Bass Fisherman : Would you rather catch a dozen small fish or one big one?

Would you rather catch a dozen 1-3 lber’s, or one 10 pounder?

Bonus Question : Which do you prefer, a spinnerbait or buzzbait?

A ten pound + bass is a goal few fishermen can ever hope to achieve. For those who find their favorite fishing waters north of the Mason-Dixon Line, 10 pounders are extremely rare. I am content with my 8 1/2 pound largemouth. But given the opportunity to catch a dozen small bass versus catching what could be the bass of a lifetime? One doesn’t even have to think that over. I’ll take ten! (Pounds, that is.) But since I live in Alaska, bass isn’t even an option, so I’ll translate it into trout and salmon. Would I be content to catch a limit of trout in the (normal) pound to three pound range? Or would I rather go out and catch a 10 pound steelhead or char or salmon or lake trout or…. Like I said, “One doesn’t even have to think that over.”

In my tackle box, spinner baits outnumber buzz baits about 6 to one.
